Please allow me to introduce myself….
Hi. My name is Stacey Sanderson. I have been working in the Peterborough area for twenty-six years. Much of that experience has been in Medical Social Work in hospital and community settings. More recently I have developed an interest and scope of practice in psychotherapy. The last thirteen years I have had the opportunity to work with people in a primary care setting and in private practice who are experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues – to name just a few. I welcome people of all ages, couples and families in my practice.
My interventions are informed by my geeky interest in neurobiology (how the brain and central nervous system work), how the body holds emotion, and an individual’s own unique strengths. I tend to take a ‘generalist’ approach but have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Self Compassion Crisis Management, and EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization). I also use Solution Focused and Positive Psychology models. I will view you as the expert in your own life and build on your own natural resilience.
I am both a Registered Psychotherapist and a Registered Social Worker.
It is important to note that most insurance companies recognize both – or either/or. My services are offered on a sliding scale. I am a registered Non-Insured Health Benefits provider.
I love to cook, be in nature, kayak, run, play rugby, curl and hang out with my family, which includes a dog and two cats.
I look forward to working with you!
Stacey Sanderson, B.S.W., M.A., R.S.W. R.P
